Everdisplay Breaks Ground on 6th Gen Fab
December 22, 2016

Previously, we mentioned that Shanghai based Everdisplay had decided to spend ~ $4b to build a Gen 6 OLED fab.  Everdisplay has now officially begun construction on the fab as of Friday, with a construction timeframe of 24 months (12/18), and fully complete full build-out by 2021.  The fab is expected to have a capacity of 30,000 sheets/month built in two phases.  The fab will be oriented toward rigid substrates, however, Everdisplay has allocated some space for producing flexible OLED, likely a pilot line, and the company currently runs a Gen 4.5 OLED line using LTPS backplanes, which is now producing a limited number of small panel OLED displays for the Xiaomi Redmi Pro smartphone, along with Truly and BOE.
